Proofreader’s Key responsibilities:
- Check the text matches the original.
- Check the spelling and style are correct and consistent.
- Check page numbers, headings, and captions are correct.
- Check the photos and illustrations are correctly captioned.
Copy Editors Key responsibility
- Review copy for errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Check the copy for readability, style, and agreement with editorial policy.
- Suggest revisions, such as changing words and rearranging sentences and paragraphs to improve clarity or accuracy.
- They may carry out research, confirm sources for writers, and verify facts, dates, and statistics.
Qualifications:
- Degrees in publishing, media studies, and journalism are preferred.
